Helen Christianson
Helen Christianson, age 80, passed away at her home surrounded by her family on March 19, 2024, in New Rockford, N.D.
Helen's visitation was Friday, March 22 from 1:00-7:00 p.m., with family present from 6:00-7:00 p.m., followed by a prayer service at 7:00 p.m., all at Evans Funeral Home, New Rockford.
A funeral service was held Saturday, March 23, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., at First Lutheran Church, New Rockford with Rev. Amy Kippen officiating.
Her burial will be at the Prairie Home Cemetery, New Rockford.
Recorded music was "Mama's Family Bible" by George Jones. Special music was "I'll Fly Away" by JR Marcotte and kids and "Live Forever" by JR Marcotte.
Pallbearers were Kevin Omoth, JR Marcotte, RJ Marcotte, Travis Kutz, Grayson Ludwig, Haiden Omoth, Landyn Kutz and Micah Ludwig.
Honorary bearers were all of Helen's grandchildren and friends.
Helen was born November 13, 1943, in Rugby, N.D., to Mary Warmsbecker and George Bachmeier Sr. She lived on the farm for 12 years and moved to New Rockford. Helen was the only one out of 11 siblings to graduate, she graduated from St. James Academy.
After graduation, she met and married Lyle Christianson. Helen and Lyle had their only child, Karen and made their home in New Rockford. Helen worked at the 4th Corporation for 35 years and Support Systems until her retirement at 75.
Helen enjoyed baking for her family, she always had her special chocolate cake, chocolate chip cookies or any requested goodies when company was coming to visit.
Grandma loved listening to country music, especially country oldies. She especially loved when her grandson-in-law would play his guitar and great grandkids would sing to her. Helen loved to play cards and enjoyed going to the casino. Her family will miss her daily phone calls to check-in and her dry sense of humor!
Helen is survived by her daughter, Karen (Kevin) Omoth of New Rockford; grandchildren, Trisha (Travis) Kutz of Williston, N.D., Tamarra (JR) Marcotte of Sykeston, N.D., Haiden Omoth (Ally Fettig) of New Rockford; her six great-grandchildren, Kinlee, PaisleyJo and RJ Marcotte, Grayson Ludwig and Quade and Landyn Kutz; her sisters, Mary Nokleby of New Rockford, N.D., and Francis Hammer of Jamestown, N.D. Helen is also survived by her stepchildren, Earl Freeman, Christopher Freeman, Sharon (Frank) Hermes and Annette (Ernie) Steffsmeier.
Helen is preceded in death by her husband, Lyle; grandson, Nathan Omoth; her parents; and brothers, John Bachmeier, Frank Bachmeier, George Bachmeier, Richard Bachmeier and Jim Bachmeier; sisters, Rose Kraft, Phyllis Duchesherer and Elenora Knoll.
