Irvin Loe

Irvin B. Loe, age 87, formerly of McHenry, N.D., passed away Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at the Bethany Retirement Home in Fargo, N.D.

Irvin's visitation was Thursday, April 4, 2024, from Noon - 1:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 1:00 p.m., all at Evans Funeral Home, New Rockford, with Pastor Mindy Meier officiating. Recorded music was "Amazing Grace" by Andy Wood. His burial was at the Grace City Cemetery.

Pallbearers were all of Irvin's family and close friends.

Military Honors were conducted by the North Dakota Army Funeral Honors Team.

Irvin Berne Loe was born February 28, 1937, to Lloyd and Emma (Birkeland) Loe of rural Warwick, N.D. He was one of four brothers and four sisters in the family. He attended Hillsdale Country School and graduated from Sheyenne High School in 1955.

Shortly after, he began working for Campbell Construction Company, where he worked for 20 years. It was the kind of place, "(you) started out picking rock and then would kind of work your way up, running the packer, the water truck and then finally, the blade."

Irvin married Barbara Haley on October 8, 1960, in New Rockford, N.D. On October 5, 1961, he was drafted into the US Army, Co. A 864th Engineering Bn, at Fort Wolters, Mineral Wells, Texas. He earned an Expert Badge (Rifle M-1), a Marksmen Badge (Carbine), and the Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged on Oct. 4, 1963.

He then continued working for Campbell Construction. In 1976, he was hired by the Eddy County Road Dept., where he was a Road Grader Operator, helping with road maintenance and road building. He then moved on to be the ECRD Supervisor.

He and Barb were members of the New Rockford Eagles, where they also bartended. After 42 years, he retired and continued to be busy taking care of the farmstead east of New Rockford. If you would call him, he was often out on the zero-turn mower, or in his workshop, but always needed to be busy.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Loe of McHenry, N.D.; daughter, Brenda (Jeff) Unterseher of Bowdon, N.D.; son, Tim (Tanya) of Thief River Falls, Minn.; three grandchildren, Wendy (Kevin) Nordsven, Brandy Unterseher, and Jenna (Billy) Davis; two great-grandchildren, Cooper and Olivia; three sisters-in-law, Faye, Jeneen and Jan Loe and many nieces and nephews.

Irvin was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Emil, David, and Mike and four sisters, Laurel Kokko, Betty Anderson, Marilyn Stenberg and Ellen Burthold.

Arrangements by Evans Funeral Home, Carrington and New Rockford, N.D.
