Paul Skadberg
Paul Dean Skadberg, age 65, of Carrington, N.D., died unexpectedly on his family farm on Wednesday, April 3, 2024.
His visitation was Monday, April 8 from 1:00-5:00 p.m., at Evans Funeral Home, Carrington, and from 6:00-7:00 p.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church, Carrington, followed by a prayer service at 7:00 p.m.
Paul's funeral service was held Tuesday, April 9 at 10:30 a.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church, Carrington, N.D., with Pastor Rick Loewen officiating. Teresa Edland was pianist and Rob Marcotte was soloist. Congregational Hymns were "When Peace Like A River" and "Lift High The Cross." His burial was at the Carrington Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Arlan Bachmeier, Valentin Ciubotareanu, Nate Emerson, Jay Hendrickson, Doug Zink and Richard Zink.
Honorary pallbearers were Paul's beloved grandchildren.
Paul was born to Kermit and Jeanette (Veen) Skadberg on September 22, 1958, in New Rockford, N.D. He grew up on the family farm in the Barlow area. He graduated from Carrington High School in 1976. Paul continued his education at Wahpeton and then NDSU before returning to the farm.
On July 14, 1979, he married Ginger Kliem in Carrington, N.D., at Trinity Lutheran Church. Together they were blessed with three children: Jason, Mike, and Haley. They farmed together for 45 years on his family farm. He was a third-generation farmer.
Paul was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Carrington. He was also an active member of the Birtsell Township Board and a former Foster County Water Board member.
Paul loved farming with his John Deere equipment. He could often be found tinkering with things in the shop. He enjoyed snowmobiling, golfing, traveling, and farming.
Paul and Ginger's family enjoyed time together at the lake, snow skiing, and hiking. Some of their fondest memories are snow skiing as a family in Montana and Colorado.
Paul will be dearly missed by his loving wife, Ginger; three children, Jason Skadberg, Carrington, N.D., Mike Skadberg, Denver, Colo., and Haley (Tanner) Lura, Carrington, N.D.; his mother, Jeanette Skadberg, Mesa, Ariz.; five siblings, Doug (Melody) Skadberg, New Rockford, N.D., Penne (Rick) Rader, Gold Canyon, Ariz., Todd Skadberg, Yuma, Ariz., Sara (Tom) Herzog, Denver, Colo., and Steve Skadberg, Long Beach, Calif.; and four grandchildren, Lauren and Kylie Skadberg and Vander and Lawson Lura. He is also survived by many great friends and family.
Preceding him in death is his father, Kermit Skadberg; his grandparents, John and Mamie (Stokes) Skadberg, Ted and Martha Veen; parents-in-law, Roy and Bonnie (Delger) Kliem; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Carrington Daily Bread, the Carrington Ambulance or New Rockford Ambulance.
