Jean Kulla
Jean Scott Kulla, 90, of Kensal, N.D., peacefully passed away Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at Sanford Hospice House, Fargo, N.D.
Her visitation was Sunday, April 14, 2024, from 6:00-7:00 p.m., followed by a Rosary at 6:30 p.m., and a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m., all at St. John's Catholic Church, Kensal, N.D.
Jean's Mass of Christian Burial service was held Monday, April 15, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Catholic Church, Kensal, N.D., with Father Sean Mulligan officiating. Kathy Johnson was pianist. Her burial was at the St. John's Catholic Cemetery, Kensal.
Pallbearers were Jesse Connell, Pat Becker, Blair Kuhn, Gary Helgeson, Justin Liebig and Matt Kulla.
Honorary pallbearers were Jean's beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Jean was born on March 7, 1934, in Edmunds, N.D., to loving parents, Mary Elizabeth and James Scott. Jean grew up in Kensal, N.D., and graduated from Kensal High School.
She received her Registered Nursing degree at Mercy School of Nursing in Valley City, N.D. Her first nursing position was in the Kensal Clinic. Later in her career, she worked as the Foster County Public Health Nurse for numerous years until her retirement.
Jean loved being a nurse. Jean's kind, caring and empathetic nature made her an exceptional nurse not only for her patients, but also for the community she loved.
In 1958, Jean married Herman Kulla and together they raised four children. Her greatest joy in life was her husband and family. Jean was a loving wife, wonderful mother, and grandmother.
Jean will be greatly missed by her loving husband, Herman; and her children, Kristie (Blair) Kuhn, Oakes, N.D., Scott (Heather) Kulla, Fargo, N.D., Kim Kulla, Minneapolis, Minn., and Karen (Pat Becker) Kulla, Andover, Minn. She enjoyed seven grandchildren, Christina (Casey), Travis (Lacey), Matt, Emma, Jesse (Jenny), Karli, Shayna (Josh) and seven great-grandchildren, Parker, Taylor, Sophia, Konnar, Amelia, Atley and Esley.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Mary Elizabeth and James Scott and loving siblings, Vernon, George (Bud), Joseph, Jack, Frank, Dick, Florence, Berna, Betty Jane and JoAnn.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. John's Catholic Church and St. John's Cemetery, Kensal, N.D.
