Fred Jacobson
Frederick "Fred" Jacobson, age 83, died Monday, April 22, 2024, peacefully in his recliner at the Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd in New Rockford, N.D.
Fred's visitation was Friday, April 26 from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 2:00 p.m., all at Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd Chapel, New Rockford, with Pastor Paula Loewen officiating. Recorded music was "Jealous Of The Angels," "The Day God Took You Home," and "Precious Lord." His burial was at the Prairie Home Cemetery, New Rockford.
Honorary bearers were Kevin Lura, Robert (Robbie) Lies, Steve Nicholson, Kent Linderman, Roger Topp, David Archuletta and Tony McDonald.
Frederick William Jacobson was born June 16, 1940, on the family farm north of Drake, N.D., in Lake George Township of McHenry County, the son of Severt and Caroline (Kriedeman) Jacobson. In 1951, the family moved to the Lawrence and Bill Steinbach farm near New Rockford.
Fred left the Steinbach farm (now known as the Monty Schaefer farm) at the age of 18 and traveled to many states. He worked at a lumber mill in Washington State for a time. Fred did custom combining for Ron Weber. He later moved back to the area. Fred then farmed for Kevin Lura, he really enjoyed his time with Kevin.
Fred liked to travel, snowmobile, and to collect baseball cards. He loved to have one-on-one visits. Fred was a free-spirit, you never knew where he'd turn up.
Fred is survived by his brother, Leonard (Lois) Jacobson; his sister, Martha Ambers; his sister-in-law, Betty Jacobson; a daughter, Missy (Don) Oney; three grandchildren;
six great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his two brothers, Ernest (Luella) Kriedeman and Carl Jacobson and brother-in-law, Larry Ambers.
