Mertz takes 4th place at NASP West Nationals

Emma Mertz, a fifth grade student at Carrington Elementary School, placed fourth in the elementary girls' bullseye division at the National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) Western Nationals in Sandy, Utah, April 26-27.

Mertz shot a score of 277 to take fourth in both the elementary girls division out of 291 competitors, as well as for fifth grade girls, where 191 competed. Her score was also the ninth best out of all elementary shooters.

Overall, she shot the 106th best score out of 1,052 total girls in all age groups participating at the NASP Western Nationals.

She now advances to the NASP National Bullseye Tournament in Daytona Beach, Fla., which will be held from June 6-8.

Emma is the daughter of Chris and Nikki Mertz of Carrington.
