Carrington made a rare trip just north to New Rockford Golf Club on Wednesday, April 24, for a triangular meet featuring the Cards, the host NR-S Rockets and Griggs/Midkota Titans as featured participants.
It was the first tournament hosted at the nine-hole course in quite some time, and the conditions made for some favorable scores.
Grady Shipman played in his first action of the year, and took fourth with a card of 41. He was followed down the leaderboard by Hunter Bachmeier (44), Max Whitman (45), Easton Mittleider (45) and Gabe Ricter (47).
Returning state tournament qualifier Jackson Schumacher was the top individual, representing the Rockets well with a 38.
Last Monday, the Cards got back on to their Region 2 schedule for an 18-hole meet at Village Green in Moorhead. Oak Grove took the tournament win with a 304, and they were led by medalist Carter Paulus with a 73.
For Carrington (421), Callen Garber was the top shooter with a 101, followed by Ricter (104), Bachmeier (107), Wyatt Weninger (109), Drew Matt (113) and Mittleider (114).
The upcoming schedule for the Cardinal golfers will have them at Oxbow today (May 6) for a tournament beginning at noon, and they travel to Rose Creek Golf Course in Fargo on Wednesday, May 8, to hit the tees starting at 9 a.m.
CrossRoads Golf Club's Region 2 individual state qualifying meet will be on May 22. Players shooting an 18-hole score of 79 will automatically advance to the State Class B Boys' Golf Tournament, which will also be held at CrossRoads starting June 4.
