Within our Walls: Mental health care services at CHI

May is National Mental Health Awareness Month. In accordance with Mental Health Awareness Month, we would like to remind the community that we have a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner on staff at Foster County Medical and Urgent Care Clinic.

Brittany Long has been a member of our medical staff since 2018.

Brittany's clinical practice centers around mental health care for patients age 6 and older. She provides psychiatric assessments, medication management, and counseling services for all psychiatric disorders such as ADHD, depression, anxiety, and bipolar to name a few.

She works closely with local therapists to ensure our patients are getting the best care possible.

Brittany has expanded her practice by receiving training in Eye Movement Desensitization(EMDR) and most recently became a trained Level 1 Internal Family System (IFS) therapist.

IFS is an evidence-based psychotherapy that helps people heal their protective and wounded inner parts. Just like families are composed of different individuals with their roles and personalities, our internal world is composed of different parts. These parts each have their specific intentions, qualities, and desires. When these different parts become in conflict with each other this can lead to problematic behaviors and habits. IFS helps people identify the different parts of themselves and heal them.

Brittany provides services at the Foster County Medical and Urgent Care Center, and at the Family Clinic in New Rockford. She currently provides outreach services to some area businesses, and telehealth services to our sister hospitals in Oakes and Lisbon.

Brittany is available for appointments in Carrington and in New Rockford at the Family Clinic.
