In Steele this past Tuesday, the Carrington baseball team patched up some loose ends to their Region 3 schedule, and are now getting ready for postseason play.
The Cards won each end of a regional doubleheader with the Kidder County Wolves, winning by scores of 19-1 and 6-0 to improve their record to 8-7 on the season and 5-3 in league contests.
Senior righthander Grady Shipman started both halves of the two-game swing, getting some valuable rest thanks to a big five-run first inning that allowed the CHS coaching staff to throw him just three innings and save him for game two.
A seven-run third inning for Carrington was followed by Shipman's three-run blast in the fourth. Ethan Roller pitched the final two innings in the win.
That was just a warmup session for Shipman, who threw 5 1/3 innings in game two and struck out 12 Wolves in a shutout win.
Corbin Clifton had two hits and a pair of runs batted in, scored twice and stole two bases. Tate Wolsky also rounded the bases twice.
Full statistics and boxscores from the two games were not available at press time.
