Carrington Athletic Director Karla Michaelson wishes to announce that effective Friday, May 3, the Region 2 Softball Tournament format has been changed, per a meeting with other regional athletic directors.
Due to the difficulty of rescheduling weather-affected games, Region 2 school officials agreed to split the region into North and South sub-regions for postseason tournament purposes.
Teams in the North sub-region will be Grafton, Langdon/Edmore/Munich, Midway/Minto, Northern Lights and Pembina Co. North, and the South will consist of Carrington, Larimore, May-Port-CG, Nelson Co./Midkota and Thompson.
Under the new format, the number 4 and 5 seeds in each sub-region will play anywhere from Wednesday through Friday (May 15-17) at the high seed. Saturday games will pit the #1 North vs. the #4/#5 South winner, #2 North vs. #3 South, #1 South vs. #4/#5 North winner and #2 South vs. #3 North at the high seed.
From there, Monday and Tuesday, May 20-21 action will continue with the Region 2 Tournament in Grafton as originally scheduled.
The top two finishers will advance to the State Class B Softball Tournament in Jamestown May 30-June 1.
