M-P-B's Mark Thomas tries to make as soft of a landing as possible while competing in the long jump at the South Central meet. Thomas took seventh in that event, but qualified for the state track meet with a runner-up finish in the 110-meter hurdles.
For the second consecutive spring, the M-P-B Thunder's state track meet delegation will consist of one solitary member.
Once again, that honor goes to senior Mark Thomas, who is the lone male competitor in the Thunder program.
Thomas's second-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles by just .07 seconds to Carrington's Logan Weninger at the South Central Regional Track Meet in Mandan (16.41 to 16.34), allowed him to represent M-P-B at the Bismarck Community Bowl this past weekend.
He also placed sixth in the 100 (11.62), seventh in long jump (19'1") and eighth in triple jump (36' 3 3/4").
The Thunder girls' top finishes were sixth place efforts by Kara Bosche in the 800 with a 2:49.48 time, and she was also a part of the 4x400 team with Samantha and Savannah Reister and Nikki Hayes (4:57.21) which placed likewise in that event.
Seventh place went to Savannah Reister in the 100 (13.59), as well as the 4x200 foursome of Kitra Schmidt, Abby Ryun, Melissa Schlecht and Kylee Hofmann. Bosche was also eighth in the 400, along with Savannah Reister for the 300 hurdles.
