Wilde, Weckerly to attend Girls State

The Carrington American Legion Auxiliary Unit #25 of Carrington is proud to sponsor two area girls, Elise Wilde and Reagan Weckerly, to the North Dakota American Legion Auxiliary (ALA) Girls State held June 9-14 on the campus of the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks.

Elise Wilde, a student at Carrington High School, is the daughter of Amy and Dustin Hinrichs of Carrington.

Reagan Weckerly, a student at Harvey High School, is the daughter of Chad and Tessa Weckerly of Hurdsfield.

At Girls State, citizens are divided into cities, two cities form a county and all counties combine to create the mock state of Flickertail Girls State.

They learn about city, county and state government by running for offices, holding elections, writing laws and other activities.
