Dennis Bergrud
Dennis Bergrud, age 90, passed away on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at the Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd, New Rockford, N.D.
Dennis' visitation was held Monday, June 3, 2024, from Noon -1:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 1:00 p.m., all at Evans Funeral Home, New Rockford, N.D., with Pastor Jeff Halvorson officiating. Music was recorded music, "Don't Let The Old Man In" by Toby Keith and "The Old Rugged Cross" by Alan Jackson. His burial was at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Bremen, N.D.
Pallbearers were Kelly Zelfer, Jon Nygaard, Juice Fischer, Arthur Allmaras, Darren Holter, Zach Bergrud and Cody Nygaard.
Honorary bearers were all of Dennis' family and friends.
Dennis Bergrud was born on January 9, 1934, to Melvin and Myrtle (Simonson) Bergrud in Bremen, N.D. Dennis was the fifth child of 10 for Melvin and Myrtle. He attended Bremen school until the eighth grade. He then worked for various farmers.
Dennis was united in marriage to Venoie Nerlien on April 23, 1955, at Concordia Lutheran Church, located south of Hamberg, N.D. After Dennis was discharged from the military, they lived at St. Paul, Minn., for two years. They then moved to the Sheyenne, N.D., area. Dennis worked for Sheyenne Sand & Gravel, Fischer Industries of Pick City, N.D., and Close Construction as a heavy equipment operator.
Dennis enjoyed fishing, hunting, rodeos and visiting friends at Bremen Bar. He was a member of the Saddle Club of Sheyenne. He would keep an eye on the farm activities.
He is survived by his children, Deb Wetzel, Sheyenne, Daryl (Angel) Bergrud, Brookings, S.D., Valerie Bergrud, Sheyenne, Doug Bergrud, Hamberg, Julie (Kelly) Zelfer, New Rockford, and Jennifer (Juice) Fischer, Glasgow, Mont.; nine grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Jon Nygaard, Alberton, Mont.; brothers, Larry, Gerald and Eddie Bergrud and sister, Norma Kolstad.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife; daughter, Denise Nygaard; two grandchildren, Christal Holter and Derrick Bonderson; brother, Raymond Bergrud; sisters, Lorrine Ystaas, Minerva Faul, Violet Bergrud and Arlene Klocke and sons-in-law Buck Holter and Tom Wetzel.
