Redbirds 12U takes top spot in Bismarck

The Carrington Redbirds 12U baseball program won five out of six games to take the first place trophy at the Missouri River Naturals Border Battle Invitational, held at Clem Kelley Diamonds in Bismarck.

The Redbirds won their first game over Jamestown, 5-3, then lost their first and only game of the event when they fell to U.D. (Upper Deck) Expos from Billings, Mont. by a 13-3 score. They then won the remainder of their pool play games, defeating Mandan, 13-2, and the host Missouri River Naturals from Bismarck, 12-9.

In the semifinals, Carrington defeated Spearfish, S.D., 7-2, before meeting up with Mandan in the championship. The Redbirds got their bats rolling in a 23-9 win to conclude the event with an emphatic triumph.
