Lottie Posey, postmaster for 36 years at Glenfield, was honored Sunday, June 12, at an appreciation day. A special program was presented in her honor and gifts were presented.
At the invitational golf tournament at New Rockford, Sunday, local men made placings. Attending from Carrington were Barney Schroeder, H. M. Knott, Harold Upgren, R.W. Hargrave, Sr. Phil Neuharth, Bruce Anderson, and Bob Stitzer.
Results showed Neuharth winning the third flight; Knott, medalist; Schroeder, runner-up in first flight; and Stitzer, consolation in the championship.
The second Foster County 4-H camp was held at Camp Rokiwan last week, it was announced by County Agent George F. Stewart. Crafts offered this year were luster lace, bead work, and wooden name plates. Mr. Stewart was in charge of the making of name plates.
Friday and Saturday, Strike It Rich, which tells of the oil boom and proration in East Texas from 1929 to 1931, is scheduled to appear at the Grand, featuring Stuart Erwin and Lloyd Corrigan in the cast supporting Rod Cameron, Bonita Granville and Don Castle.
Attending the American Legion and Auxiliary state convention in Minot the forepart of this week were Mr. and Mrs. Steve Wenaas, Mr. and Mrs. John Hendrickson, Mr. and Mrs. P.J. Goss, Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Winterer, Walter Beaton, Jr. , Gordon Stene, Mrs. R. H. Kapitan, Mrs. Emanuel Bauer and Mrs. N.A. Graves, all representing the local organizations.
Two defeats were suffered by the Carrington baseball team in games the past week. Sheyenne winning here June 15 by a score of 13 to 2, and Minnewaukan winning there Sunday 6 to 5.

Friends of Brown Laber made sure that his crop was seeded although illness has kept him off the tractor this spring. The Sykeston farmers held a seeding bee Saturday that worked over a section plus 80 acres.
Sen. Milton Young and Congressman Mark Andrews are among lawmakers who have indicated that they will participate in the annual Legislators Golf Tournament here.
The sixth annual Fort Seward wagon train left Saturday for Hawksnest, with a projected Tuesday noon arrival. The trail ride is scheduled to be completed next Saturday afternoon.
The seeding of small grains is virtually completed in most of the country while part of the country is hampered by wet fields. Some of the wet fields will not be seeded this year.
Al Cruchet, 24, English teacher and athletic coach at Barrett, MN, for the past three years, was selected as one of America’s Outstanding Secondary Educators.
Mrs. Rosemary Voglewede, French teacher at CHS, attended a summer workshop for foreign language June 10 - 14.
Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Becker, Carrington, are the parents of a baby boy born June 11 at Carrington Hospital.
Students from this area elected to the 32nd Annual Boys State legislature included: Representative Terry L. Hochhalter, Woodworth; Robert H. Neumiller, Sykeston; James S. Pound, McHenry; Lowell L. Schulz, Woodworth; and Michael D. Timm, Kensal.
Senators included Mark D. Evans, John A. Landon and David M. Steinman, Carrington.
Michael Bauer of Carrington was elected to the Supreme Court.

The 1999 Foster County Fair is being dedicated to a well-known Carrington citizen, Dale Townsend.
An estimated $500 worth of alcoholic beverages were taken in a break-in at the Little Store May 30. The perpetrator kicked in the back door sometime in the night. Missing were a quantity of beer and hard liquor.
Paul West will join the Carrington Police Department as a full-time officer June 28, replacing Scott Nordstrom, who resigned last month.
Cannon Technologies adds two new employees. Robert Cox, from Australia and Mark Edinger from the Cathay area.
The former Mid-Dakota Veterinary Service in Carrington is under new ownership. Drs. Greg Carlson and Debra Trnovec, owners of Southwood Veterinary Clinic in Jamestown assumed ownership of the clinic June. 1.
The husband-wife team, along with Drs. Clay Seright and Dawn Olson of the Jamestown clinic, will rotate duties at the Carrington facility.
An open house honoring Russell and Vera Topp of McHenry on their 50th wedding anniversary was held on June 27th at the McHenry Senior Center.
New carpeting is being installed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Carrington. A new, more muted color carpet will replace the old. In addition, some new office furniture and wall paper will spruce up the church.
New Arrivals - boy, Lavell Antonio Ivy was born June 7, 1999 to Elizabeth Albrecht and Anthony Ivy, New Rockford; girl, Abigail Jo Rue, was born June 3 to Pamela and Mark Rue, New Rockford; boy, Dillion Lee was born to Dynella and Dale Schmitz, Manfred; girl, Grace Nicole was born to James and Caryn Woostead, New Rockford.
