Shipman gets All-State nod

Carrington senior Grady Shipman was selected for the second consecutive year to the Class B All-State Baseball First Team for his performance on the field in 2024.

The team is selected by the North Dakota High School Coaches' Association (NDHSCA).

Shipman, the Cards' lefthanded-swinging shortstop, pitcher and sometimes catcher, batted .470 with two home runs, 12 doubles, two triples, 25 runs batted in (RBI), 12 stolen bases, and 26 runs scored.

He also finished his high school career as one of the team's dominant forces on the mound, notching a record of 6-1 with a 1.20 earned run average (ERA), 19 walks and 65 strikeouts in 34 innings.

Grady is the son of Wayne and Denise Shipman of Carrington, and will continue his baseball career at Valley City State. His brother, Jayden, also played for the Vikings.

Two players from state tournament qualifier SNR also made the All-State Team. The Black Sox, who made their first state appearance in 24 years, were represented by senior OF/P Connor Knatterud (First Team) and OF/P Keaton Cudworth (Second Team).

Connor is the son of Tiffany and Mike Schaefer and Danny Knatterud, and Keaton the son of Robert and Amy Cudworth, all of New Rockford.

One other Region 3 player made the All-State roster, that being South Border's Berkley Frantz on the Second Team.
