Jamestown Regional Medical Center has been named Best Hospital for Obstetrics by the Women's Choice Award, an evidence-based national award for healthcare. JRMC ranked in the top 9% of 3,724 U.S. hospitals offering obstetrical services.
JRMC earned the award based on robust criteria including relevant clinical performance, patient satisfaction and the presence of appropriate accreditations. The birthing center has a long history of high marks from patients on surveys evaluating their experience and the quality of care received.
"We've thought for a long time that our JRMC Family BirthPlace is the best place to have a baby," shared OB/GYN Dr. Emily Stromquist. "This sort of honor, along with objective evidence like our 99th percentile OB patient satisfaction scores feel like such a big thank you from the community."
JRMC provides a full scope of obstetric and gynecologic services, including prenatal care, labor and delivery, postpartum support and specialized gynecologic surgery. JRMC is one of the few rural medical centers still offering labor and delivery services. The Jamestown community is also particularly unique in its access to provider choice. Not only are there skilled family practice providers caring for moms, but JRMC has come along to support those practices with the availability of 24/7 OB/GYN coverage.
Dr. Gregg McAdoo and Dr. Emily Stromquist joined JRMC in 2022. Both board certified OB/GYNs, their presence in the community expands both the confidence and options in JRMC obstetrical services.
"This prestigious award is a testament to the unwavering dedication of our team at JRMC. It acknowledges our relentless pursuit of excellence in women's healthcare," said Mike Delfs, JRMC President & CEO. "Our dedicated staff work tirelessly to provide the highest quality care to women and new mothers in the community."
JRMC aims to support expecting mothers. Customized birth plans and comfort kits are developed to help women make the childbirth experience as comforting as possible for both mother and baby.
Emily Woodley, Manager of the JRMC Family BirthPlace, said, "Our goal is to create a nurturing, supportive environment as patients experience pregnancy, childbirth and recovery. We are privileged to guide families through this meaningful life event with the highest safety, quality and compassion standards."
In addition to receiving the Women's Choice Award, JRMC Family BirthPlace is a Blue Cross Blue Shield Center of Distinction and is designated a Safe Sleep Hospital by Cribs for Kids.
According to publicly available market share data, over 70% of women in the immediate region choose JRMC for their labor and delivery experience. The medical center welcomes an average of 350 babies every year.
