Letters: CHS Class of 1984 celebrates 40 years

Dear Editor:

The Carrington High School Class of 1984 held its 40th-year reunion on July 13 in Carrington. We thoroughly enjoyed visiting with each other and with other community members. And we also enjoyed the various community activities and excellent dining options.

Many of us recollected our positive experiences in Carrington and at CHS as young people, and we are glad to see Carrington thriving today.

We were happy that our reunion coincided with the Central City Bash events, which we enjoyed including in our day! We were glad to support the Spanish Club by purchasing food. We also appreciate the effort Dennis Freeman puts into making sure there is a place for entertainment when class reunions are in town. Headlocks looks amazing, and we love the sports-bar feel. The bands were great, and it was so nice to visit with other community members at that time. Classmates also enjoyed the OK Tire Show & Shine Car Show on Main.

Several of us also visited CHS, and we enjoyed seeing the beautiful new addition. We enjoyed revisiting our shared memories of CHS and those crucial years as we toured each room – many good stories and laughter.

We also want to thank Cathy Paulson for opening the Foster County Museum for us. The building is rich in history. We loved to see all the antiques and old photos. We found "ourselves" and our family histories there. We were surprised that our own personal histories were included.

Thanks also to the Chieftain for our buffet meal and breakfast. They were so kind to give us time to sit and visit, visit, visit. The meals were delicious, and the staff was very kind. We appreciate the Chieftain for being our always-accommodating host site.

In short, cheers to Carrington. Many of us noted repeatedly how much we loved the beautiful flowers all over town, and how clean and inviting the town remains. Those visiting the cemetery were especially appreciative at how well kept and cared for it is.

Carrington is a beautiful town – clean, friendly, and ready for company. Thank you to all who helped make our reunion a great weekend with great classmates, reminiscing about the good ol' days.

Sincerely,

CHS Class of 1984
