JREC hosts free online workshops in September

Four presentations for the small business community will be provided by the Jamestown Regional Entrepreneur Center (JREC) on September 11, 17, 24, and 25.

The free online presentations are “Buying a Franchise,” “Building Your Business Plan with AgPlan Online Software,” “Introduction to Patents, Trademarks, and Copyrights with Fargo Patent & Business Law,” and “Founder’s Journey with Adam Zach of Zegacy.”

“Buying a Franchise” will be offered from noon to 1 p.m. on September 11. Sara Matta, who is a business consultant affiliated with the Duquesne University Small Business Development Center in Pittsburgh, Pa., and has over a decade of experience in the restaurant industry will lead the presentation. She will introduce the topics of franchise ownership, how the business differentiates from other small businesses, the business model, franchisor support, and franchisor marketing.

On September 17, a presentation is planned on “Building Your Business with AgPlan Online Software.” This two-hour online presentation is held from 10 a.m. to noon.

This presentation will discuss using AgPlan online business planning software to support the implementation of your business ideas and goals. This workshop will guide you in creating a business plan to incorporate your vision into your operation. The presenter for this training will be Curtis Mahnken, Extension Economist, with the Center for Farm Financial Management at the University of Minnesota.

The ”Introduction to Patents, Trademarks, and Copyrights with Fargo Patent & Business Law” presentation will be held from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. on September 24. Led by Tom Kading, owner of Fargo Patent & Business Law, this webinar provides an overview of the basics of entities and how intellectual property is used. This presentation will also discuss examples of how businesses have protected and used intellectual property.

An online discussion with Zegacy startup founder, Adam Zach, will take place on September 25 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. He will discuss his experience transitioning from engineer to entrepreneur to business owner.

Zegacy is the start-up sister company to Home Equity Partner. Based on his prior success at HEP, Adam founded Zegacy because of the large demand for home ownership amidst the challenging economic conditions home buyers are facing and to help investors deploy their large capital reserves via real estate.
