Donald Green
We are sad to announce the passing of our beloved father, mentor and friend, Donald K. Green. He passed peacefully at 8:45 a.m. Saturday morning Aug. 17, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born March 28, 1930, in Carrington, N.D. to Edna Bonderud and Howard Green.
He worked several jobs including one he enjoyed for 18 months as a civilian contractor on SAC Air Force Bases (all around the country) on B-52 Bombers and other aircraft that he loved so much. He worked at Designs for Tomorrow as a sheet and metal worker for over 27 years, retiring from there.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Pevely, Mo ,. for over 50 years. He was a board member of the Fore Honor Foundation and president and coach of Pevely Valley Khoury league.
He bowled for over 50 years and was on various leagues at Quonset Lanes, as well as the Fore Honor Foundation Bowling team for seven years until he was 94. He was an active member of the Jefferson County, 3 Rivers Chapter of the Mo. Archeology Club. He was also a member of Sons of AMVETS POST #42 for many years. He was their oldest member.
He was an amazing, kind, loving, and generous man. He always made time for his family and was always there when we needed him. He was a friend to all. He lived 94 years and 4½ months. Some of his final words were, He Loved us All, Thanked Jesus and May God Bless Everyone.
Visitation was held Friday, August 23, 2024, from 4- 8 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Pevely. The funeral followed on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. We will all miss him dearly.
He is survived by his children, Richard Green and his wife, Kittie of Pevely, Mo .; Donald Guthrey and his wife, Vicky of Puyallup, Wash .; Gabrielle Colleen Crocker and her husband Dennis of Pevely, Mo .; Andrea Politte of Pevely, Mo .; James Green and his wife Tish of Hematite, Mo .; Julie Russell of Festus, Mo .; Janene Graves of De Soto, Mo .; along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, 57 in total.
He was predeceased by his wives, Barbara Buckley of San Fransisco, CA., Patricia Castile of Fredericktown Mo., Joyce Rau of St. Louis, MO., son Jeffrey Green and grandsons Richard K. Green and Daimion Mason.
A Celebration of Life Service will be announced at a later date.
