Obituary: Kent Linderman

Kent Linderman

Kent Dale Linderman, age 77, of Sykeston, N.D., died August 20, 2024, at his home.

Kent's visitation was Monday, August 26 from 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 10:00 a.m. at Federated Church UCC/UMC, Carrington, N.D. Rev. Rick Loewen officiated. Recorded music was "Amazing Grace" (My Chains Are Gone), "Why Me Lord", "Go Rest High On That Mountain" and "I'll Fly Away." His burial was held at 2:00 p.m. at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, N.D.

Honorary bearers were Tana Olson, Derek Blestrud, Kya Schroeder, Jessica Eastman, Matthew Florhaug, Ross Florhaug, Daniel Florhaug and Reid Loessberg.

Military honors were American Legion and United States Army Funeral Honors Team.

Kent was born on April 4, 1947, the son of Dale and Jean (Hanson) Linderman. He grew up on the family farm northwest of Carrington, N.D. He graduated from Carrington High School and went on to graduate from North Dakota State University with a Bachelor of Science degree from the College of Agriculture. On December 28, 1968 Kent married Jewel Galt. They later divorced.

Kent served in the United States Army from March, 1970, to November, 1971. While he served, he was stationed in the Panama Canal Zone as an inspector. After being discharged, Kent began his farming and ranching career near Carrington.

Besides farming and ranching, Kent was a cattle buyer, active with his cutting horses, and was quite the woodworker and carpenter.

He is survived by his four sisters, Georgia (Roger) Blestrud of Tioga, N.D., Monica Linderman of Belgrade, Mont., Roxanne Linderman of Belgrade, Mont. and Nadine (Roger) Florhaug of Kensal, N.D; eight nieces and nephews and 11 great-nieces and nephews.

Kent was preceded in death by his parents, Dale and Jean Linderman.
