Pasta Fest Business Spotlight: KDAK is live and local on AM/FM dials

The Cardinal - KDAK AM 1600/100.1FM is the local radio station that serves the Carrington area. The KDAK studio is located on Main Street in Carrington, and the station has been serving the community for 75 years. Operating 24/7, KDAK has seven employees. KDAK sees its role in the community as helping to promote Carrington as a great place to live, work, and play.

BJ Walters, the primary on-air personality for The Cardinal, broadcasts from the studio each Monday through Friday from 6-9 a.m. and 12-1 p.m. Live broadcasts of Cardinal sports are aired with full play-by-play on the station, including pre- and post-game show analysis.

Walters also hosts the Carrington Coaches Show live from Prairie Inn in Carrington each Monday at 6 p.m., which is broadcast on the station's YouTube page as well as on-air.

According to KDAK's Marketing Specialist, Jess Sabinash, plans are in the works to add more content and programs. Sabinash works with local businesses to promote them on-air and draw customers to them.

One of the ways they help promote local businesses is through their Wheeler Dealer auctions. Listeners can purchase discounted goods and services from local businesses through the monthly online auctions. In fact, the September monthly auction opened Wednesday, Sept. 25. To view the items on auction, go to https://www.i3gmediawheelerdealer.com/ and search by city or category.

Both Sabinash and Walters will be on site Oct. 17 for 8th Avenue & Main Pasta Fest. The Radio Rover will be broadcasting live from in front of their studio on Main Street in Carrington. The pair also intend to enter competing pasta dishes in the contest. Sabinash chose lasagna and Walters will whip up chicken parmesan using egg noodles.

KDAK, a full service heritage AM station with a FM counterpart, is owned by i3G Media and is part of a network of 11 radio stations, both AM and FM, in south central and southeastern North Dakota. The company also has seven podcasts, including one for KDAK.
