There are five more debates scheduled for North Dakota's gubernatorial and U.S. Senate candidates before Election Day.
BEK TV will host two debates featuring live audiences.
A debate at 7 p.m. Oct. 14 from the Bismarck Event Center will feature all three candidates for governor, Republican Rep. Kelly Armstrong, Democratic-NPL state Sen. Merrill Piepkorn and independent Michael Coachman.
BEK TV will host a U.S. Senate candidate debate with Republican incumbent Kevin Cramer and Democratic-NPL challenger Katrina Christiansen at 7 p.m. Oct. 16 from the Legacy High School Auditorium in Bismarck.
The debates are free and open to the public but seating is limited.
Other gubernatorial debates:
KFGO will host a debate with governor candidates Armstrong and Piepkorn at 9 a.m. Oct. 8. Moderators are KFGO News Director Paul Jurgens, North Dakota Monitor Editor Amy Dalrymple and Forum Communications columnist Jim Shaw. The debate will be broadcast live on the radio as well as kfgo.com.Prairie Public will host its gubernatorial debate at 7 p.m. Oct. 10, featuring all three candidates. The debate will be broadcast on Prairie Public television and radio networks and livestreamed.Armstrong and Piepkorn previously debated on a podcast hosted by Forum Communications columnist Rob Port.Other Senate debates:
Cramer and Christiansen will hold their second debate at 7 p.m. Wednesday on Prairie Public. Cramer and Christiansen previously debated the issues on Port's podcast.Candidates for North Dakota's at-large U.S. House seat, Public Service Commissioner Julie Fedorchak and Dem-NPL candidate Trygve Hammer, debated twice during the campaign season, once hosted on Port's podcast and once hosted by Prairie Public.
Fedorchak declined BEK TV's invitation for a third debate, according to Lori Hinz, production development lead for BEK TV. A one-on-one interview with Hammer will be broadcast by BEK TV at 6 p.m. Oct. 16 in lieu of a debate.
