CHI's Harvest Fest draws 150

The community of Carrington came together on Saturday, September 28 to support the local hospital's efforts to raise funds for patient care equipment.

The fundraiser, Harvest Fest, held at the Foster County Fairgrounds, was a resounding success, drawing in many community and surrounding community members.

"We had about 150 attendees and raised a record-breaking amount for the hospital, said foundation director Taylor Sabinash. "I would have never guessed such a successful outcome like this, as we haven't had an event like this for a few years."

The event featured a variety of activities, including auctions, raffles, games, live music and a delicious buffet-style dinner. Local businesses and individuals donated items for the live and silent auctions, which included everything from yearly pizza subscriptions to Vikings tickets. The evening was filled with many highlights, one of them, a heartfelt speech from the CHI St. Alexius Health Carrington Medical Center's own patient and retired nurse, Carol Sherman.

"We are overwhelmed by the generosity and spirit of our community," said the hospital president, Jodi Hovdenes. "The funds raised at Harvest Fest will go a long way in ensuring that our patients receive the best possible care with state-of-the-art equipment. We couldn't have done this without the incredible support of everyone who attended and contributed."

The event not only achieved its financial goals but also fostered a sense of unity and shared purpose among attendees. Foundation board members, CMC staff and volunteers worked tirelessly to organize and run the event, ensuring that it was a memorable and enjoyable experience for all.

With the funds raised, the hospital is now set to purchase new patient care equipment that will enhance the quality of care provided to the community. The hospital administration has already begun the process of selecting and ordering the equipment, and they look forward to updating the community on the progress.

"Harvest Fest was more than just a fundraiser; it was a celebration of community spirit and a commitment to improving healthcare for all in our area," said Sabinash. "CHI St. Alexius Health Carrington Medical Center is so grateful for every donation given, making a significant impact on the event. We can't wait to see what the next year brings for our hospital."
