Calvary Baptist Pie Social with the Bluestems

Come out Sunday, Nov. 3rd at 6:30 p.m. for a free will offering Pie Social, featuring Bluegrass Gospel by the Bluestems, at Calvary Baptist Church on Main Street in Carrington.

The Bluestems, from Elgin, N.D., have entertained at festivals and fairs throughout North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota and Montana. Their instrumental talent is beyond their years and they enjoy sharing their talents with audiences wherever they perform. Whether you are hearing them for the first time or are familiar, their evolving acoustic, traditional bluegrass music is sure to keep your toes tapping.

Mya leads the band on fiddle and lead vocals. When she isn't playing with The Bluestems, you can find her working toward her accounting degree, working on a leather or beading project, helping out on the family ranch or playing fiddle and singing backup with the country rock band Breaking Eight.

Mercedes, on the guitar and mandolin, quietly affirms her place in the band. She is in her senior year of high school. When not performing with the band, you can find her out with the animals. She loves working with her show animals and helping with anything cattle-related. She'd rather be outdoors than indoors.

Malachi "Chi" stylishly commands the banjo and sings harmony vocals. He is in his sophomore year in high school. When not playing with the band or coming up with a new lick, you can find him playing basketball or fishing. He is dad's right-hand man on the ranch.

Micah, on bass, holds the band together. He is in eighth grade and loves to fish and tinker with things. He is dad's biggest help in the shop and is the jokester of the group. You never know what new silly joke he will come up with to share from stage.

Molly adds the dobro to the band. She is in sixth grade and enjoys basketball, volleyball and riding horse. She can be found with the boys at their favorite fishing hole, working with her animals or goofing around with a big old smile on her face.
