Gefroh gets kill #1,000 vs. Kidder Co.

Maddie Gefroh has made her living in the M/P-B jersey as a potent attacking force, as well as the Thunder's top blocker the last few seasons.

The left-hander's longevity and persistence were rewarded with her 1,000th career kill in a 3-0 sweep for the Thunder (25-11, 25-9, 25-11) over the Kidder County Wolves in District 6 action Thursday, October 3, in Medina.

Gefroh finished second on the team with 12 kills to Brynn Sorenson's 14, and led the Thunder in digs with 14, just one ahead of Sorenson in that statistic.

Cierra Mack had a team-best four aces and 11 more digs for M/P-B in the win, and Destiny Opp led the net defenders with three blocks. Violet Bohl added 30 assists in the win.

On Tuesday, the Thunder faced Napoleon/Gackle-Streeter, also in district play, and echoed their strong performance of several days earlier with another sweep, 25-21, 25-18 and 25-11, to improve to 22-5 and 3-1 in league matches.

Statistical leaders for M/P-B versus the Imperials were Gefroh (16 kills, five aces, three blocks) and Bohl (35 assists). Sorenson also had 11 kills in the match victory.

The Thunder finish up their District 6 season Tuesday, October 15, against Strasburg/Zeeland in Strasburg.
