Maxine Edland

Maxine Louise Edland, age 84, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2024 at her home in McHenry, N.D.

Her visitation will be Monday, Oct. 28, 2024 from 1-2 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m., all at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, McHenry. Pastor Russ Christiansen is officiating. Congregational music will be: #742 "What a Friend We Have In Jesus," #838 "Beautiful Savior" and #779 "Amazing Grace."

Pallbearers are Justin Edland, John Edland, Niki Edland, Tova Bergeron, Dale Edland, Greg Edland, Ethan Hasenwinkel and Jed Hasenwinkel.

Her burial will be at Glenfield Cemetery, Glenfield, N.D.

Maxine was born on Oct. 2, 1940 to Walter and Lucile Albert in Erie, N.D. She grew up and graduated from high school in 1958 in Erie, N.D. She also graduated from North Dakota State University, Fargo, N.D. in 1962. She taught school in Rothsay, Minn., Riverdale and Cooperstown, N.D. She married Roger Edland on July 23, 1966 in Erie, N.D. They moved to the family farm near Glenfield in 1969 from Cooperstown.

She attended all her sons' and grandchildren's sports, concerts and school events. She enjoyed square dancing, golf, gardening, handiwork and crafts, cross country skiing and shooting. Maxine fought an 18-month battle with cancer. She loved Medora and the Badlands and was able to make a trip in July.

She is survived by her husband, Roger Edland; two sons, Jeffrey (Kim) Edland and Steven (Tammy) Edland; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and one on the way; a sister, Florence (Gary) Welharticky; a brother, Gene Albert; a brother-in-law, Don Pingee; and many nieces and nephews.

Maxine is preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Katherine Pingee; in-laws, Dorothy and John Edland, Marlys Edland, Frank Pilley and Brenda Albert.
