Eleven members of the Fessenden-Bowdon FFA Chapter recently attended the 97th National FFA Convention, held Oct. 20-26 in Indianapolis, Ind.
Chloe Bartz, Grace Bruer, Brody Jones, Lane Risovi, Hanna Widicker, Westin Opdahl and Logan Schimelfenig attended many convention functions as well as educational tours. Austin Brame, Donavin Bartz, Gavin Mason and Ryan Snively joined the group later in the week as members of the competing Agronomy team.
On route to Indianapolis, the group stopped for the Red Harvest Cranberry Tour in Pittsville, Wis., and the Fair Oaks Dairy and Swine Farms in Fair Oaks, Indiana. During their convention stay, the group took a tour of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and had a tour of Lab Corp as part of the National FFA Education Tour Program. Labcorp is a global healthcare and life sciences company that uses science and technology to help improve health and lives.
While attending the convention, the members attended the opening convention session which highlighted keynote speaker and comedian Keven Wanzer who brought a message of kindness and acceptance and also attended the 4th general convention session where Temple Grandin was the keynote speaker. The members also saw many of the Honorary National Awards being presented and listened to a great message from retiring Southern Region FFA Vice President Carter Howell from Florida. The members also attended the large career fair and expo during the week.
