Medina/Pingree-Buchanan started their quest for the co-op's first state tournament berth with a 3-0 (25-12, 25-15, 25-22) victory over the LaMoure/Litchville-Marion Loboes in Hazelton at the Region 3 Volleyball Tournament Monday, Nov. 11.
The Thunder largely were in control for the first two sets, but the Loboes, the District 5 third seed, made a valiant comeback in set three to make the last few points interesting in their attempt to extend the match and continue their 2024 campaign.
Maddie Gefroh led M/P-B (28-6) with 18 kills and three stuff blocks, and Brynn Sorenson provided another one of her strong outings with 12 kills and digs, to go along with two aces.
Setter Violet Bohl kept the offensive flow in sync with 33 assists, and she also had the team's hot hand from the back line with four aces.
Cierra Mack, the Thunder libero, had 14 digs to pace the team in that statistic, closely followed by 13 from Gefroh and Samantha Reister.
