Featured at the Grand Theatre on Friday and Saturday will be Gene Autry and Barbara Britton in “Loaded Pistols.” Sunday, Monday and Tuesday will bring “Yes Sir, That’s My Baby,” starring Donald O’Connor, Charles Coburn and Gloria DeHaven.
Company F won another basketball game at Pingree last Wednesday night, taking a 60 to 40 decision from the Independents there. Fruhwirth led the scoring for the Co. F boys with 18, and Nelson followed close with 17. For Pingree, E. Tompkins was high with 20.
The Jamestown Dam, will cost “about $10,000,000,” according to Wesley Nelson, assistant reclamation commissioner.
One hundred and two Junior Chamber of Commerce members and their wives and sweethearts were served a turkey dinner when the annual JCC Christmas Party was held at Rainbow Gardens Thursday evening. Bernie Schroeder was chairman of the committee in charge.
At the WDAY Talent Parade held at New Rockford last Wednesday evening, their judges selected Marvel Neil, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E.L. Neil of Carrington as winner of the five contestants participating in their half-hour talent broadcast.
The Junior Music Club met at the home of H.M. Knott, advisor, on Monday, Dec. 19. Mrs. R.A. Andrews and Mrs. H.C. Duntley were guests at this meeting. The program consisted of the following numbers: Margret Hunstad, “Rustlers of Spring” by Sinding; Dennis Marcussen, “Ballerina” by Betty Eroch; Karen Upgren, “Two on a Tandem” by Hazel Cobb and “Wind in the Pines” by Inez Howell; Paul Gilje, “Riding Down the Trail” by Robinson and “The Merry Farmer” by Schumann; Marlys Lang, “Flirtation Dance” by Walter Smith; Joanne Clark, “The Juggler” by A. Loeschhorn and “Theme from Second Movement of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5.”

B.F. Roush, Carrington, was 96 years old Dec. 13, and the occasion was celebrated at a party in his home with family and friends present.
Alf Stangeland of Glenfield was elected to a three-year term on the Foster County ASC Committee when recently named community/committee men met Dec.10 at Carrington.
There had been no skating in the Carrington park’s indoor rink as of Monday – the weather has been too mild to get a good freeze in an enclosed building.
Three students from Carrington are on the fall quarter President’s Honor List of State School of Science, Wahpeton, for scholastic attainment. Listed are Terrance J. Gisvold, civil engineering; Bruce L. Peterson, accounting; and Bruce A. Piatz, electronics.
Douglas Paulson is listed on the Dean’s List at NDSU – Bottineau Branch and two other Carrington students there are listed on the Honor Roll.
John Sellie of Cathay was re-elected chairman of the District 14 Republican party when they reorganized at Fessenden.
Five students from Foster County have qualified for the fall quarter Dean’s List at Valley City State College. Listed are Larry and Judy Hoyt and Gary Erickson, all of McHenry, and Nadine Linderman and Dianne Johnson, Carrington.
Carrington junior high wrestlers defeated Jamestown 36-12 Saturday at Jamestown in exhibition matches. Winners for Carrington were Tim Sharbono, Dennis Steinman, Chip Erickson, Andy Zink, Devry Klocke, Brent Miller, Tony Zink and John Freeman. Roger Gussiaas, Cletus Fandrich and Dave Copenhaver lost.

Carrington Health Center has been chosen as a 1999 award winner in the 100 Top Hospitals: Regional Benchmarks for Success study. The Carrington hospital was the only one in North Dakota included on this list, which is a regional category in a group of 1,266 hospitals with fewer than 100 beds.
Delores Burkart and Donna Dunn, both of Carrington, are winners of the second-week drawings in the Christmas Stash of Cash certificates on Saturday, Dec. 11.
Jeff Hewitt, palletizer, has been voted employee of the month for December at Dakota Growers Pasta Company. The award carries a prize of $100 in cash and the December use of the most convenient parking spot near the employees entrance.
Area births – Marshell Ziesch and Terry Hesch, both of Pingree are parents of a baby girl, Macey Jo, born Dec. 3 at the Jamestown Hospital.
Area Obituaries – Ole Ihringer, 104, Carrington, was the last surviving World War I veteran in North Dakota, died Dec. 11; Janina Jakobson, 85, Carrington, died Monday Dec. 13; Lowell J. Merrick, 85, McHenry, died Tuesday, Dec. 14; Anna Willey, 83, Carrington, died Wednesday Dec. 15; Frances E. Richter, 75, Carrington, formerly of Sykeston, died Tuesday, Dec. 14.
Carol Dunn and Mary Nelson of Borth’s Department Store accepted a plaque from Chamber manager Julie Brown as the business holiday decorating contest winner.
First place winner in the Chamber of Commerce sponsored lighting contest was Jeff Laber and Sharon Risgaard home. They were awarded $100 in Karrington Kash.
Second place winner in the lighting contest was Bernie and LeaAnn Overbo. Their prize was $75 in Karrington Kash.
Third place winner in the lighting contest was Don and Donna Bennett. They received $50 in Karrington Kash.
