The Official Newspaper for Foster County
Each year, North Dakota soil conservation districts recognize local producers for their conservation efforts at the Achievement Banquet at the annual meeting and state convention of the North Dakota Association of Soil Conservation Districts. Winners are chosen based on the exemplary conservation practices implemented on their land.
Cory Stangeland operates the Stangeland Ranch near Kensal. He has enacted a number of practices with the assistance of the USDA EQIP and CSP programs. Of these, he says he has been particularly pleased with the addition of cover crops to his operation. Some other practices that he has found to be of great benefit include the clean water from the wells he has installed and implementing rotational grazing, which he says has made the grass better as well as making it last longer.
In acknowledgement, he and his wife Rhoda received embroidered jackets from the District and accepted a plaque from the North Dakota Association of Soil Conservation Districts during the state meeting.
Congratulations to Cory for his efforts toward conservation and better stewardship of the land, which have earned him the Foster County Conservation Achievement Award for 2024.
