The M/P-B Thunder took to the Jamestown Civic Center floor for two games at the Stutsman County Shootout, falling in both instances.
On Friday, Dec. 13, the Washburn Cardinals took a 16-point win over the Thunder, 53-37, thanks to a three-player offensive surge led by 6-foot-2 freshman center Kesia Boeshans. In the loss, Savannah Reister's 14 points were M/P-B's offensive highlight.
Saturday afternoon pitted the Thunder against the junior varsity from Northern Cass. In a game where both offenses struggled, it was the Jaguars coming out on top, 40-32.
Center Abby Ryun finished with 14 points to pace the Thunder efforts while Brynn Sorenson also added 11. The Jags' jayvees were led in scoring by 10 points from Faith Fyre.
Tuesday night, the Thunder hosted Griggs/Midkota in a battle of Independent-area teams from PBHS. The Titans would pull out the win, 52-36.
With the victory, G/M improved to 3-2 in the early season slate, while M/P-B sat at 1-5 going into their first District 2 game against Linton/HMB last Thursday.
G/M was also busy earlier in the week with a Dec. 13 game in Crystal against Drayton/Valley-Edinburg. The clash of the Titans went to D/V-E in that instance, 42-38.
