M/P-B basketball teams battle at Capital City

Medina/Pingree-Buchanan was just one of the myriad programs to participate in the Capital City Shootout in Bismarck, held during the post-Christmas break, Friday, Saturday and Monday, Dec. 27, 28 and 30, on the campus of Bismarck State College.

The Thunder girls were the most active of the bunch, as they signed up for three games covering those days.

M/P-B used that opportunity to snag their second victory of the year, a 35-21 triumph over the Center-Stanton Wildcats on Dec. 28. Brynn Sorenson scored 11 points to pace the Thunder, with Samantha Reister going for 10. The Wildcats' Ava Erhardt scored seven in defeat.

One night earlier, the Thunder's offense sputtered in a 39-21 loss to the Miners of Wilton-Wing. Junior forward Kylee Hofmann tallied 11, and Wilton-Wing's efforts were helmed by Bree Benning's nine points.

M/P-B finished up with the New Town Eagles Dec. 30, and were defeated, 52-19.

The boys faced the top-ranked Miners Monday night, Dec. 30, and were defeated, 76-60.
